Building safer communities together
At the end of June, IDS proudly supported Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week initiatives organised by Resolve, a charity network. This week ran from Monday 29th June – Sunday 3rd July. ASB Awareness Week is the national campaign bringing together housing, policing, local government, charities and community partners to shine a spotlight on ASB, strengthen local responses, and amplify the rights of victims. We focused on strengthening our communication with residents regarding what ASB includes and how to report it effectively by sharing a series of communications and hosting an online session.
ASB can be anything that causes distress, nuisance, or annoyance to others, especially in and around their homes. Examples include persistent noise, harassment, or threatening behaviour that can negatively impact the quality of life for residents and disrupt the peace within our neighbourhoods.
Our “Let’s Talk ASB” session with residents offered an opportunity to discuss the reporting and management process, supporting neighbours with complex needs, and shared experiences and concerns. We also explored the benefits of community engagement and the role of resident associations to help create a safer environment.
Next steps
Looking ahead, we are committed to acting on your feedback. We are currently updating our “Our approach to ASB” leaflet to ensure it provides clearer, more helpful information. Thank you to everyone who participated—together, we are building stronger, more supported communities.
