Safeguarding adults and children
We are committed to ensuring the safety, respect, and well-being of every vulnerable adult and child within our community. This guide provides an overview of our safeguarding policies, detailing how we work to protect those at risk and how you can help. Whether the concern is for an adult or a child, your support is essential in creating a secure environment for everyone.
What is safeguarding?
For adults:
Safeguarding adults means protecting their right to live safely, free from abuse or neglect. Adults at risk often require additional support due to age, health, or disability. Types of abuse include:
- Physical, sexual, and psychological abuse
- Financial abuse
- Neglect and self-neglect
- Domestic violence
- Modern slavery
For children:
Safeguarding children involves protecting them from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, ensuring their development and well-being. Risks include:
- Physical, emotional, and sexual abuse
- Neglect
- Criminal and online exploitation
- Human trafficking
Our safeguarding commitment
Trained staff:
Our staff are trained to spot signs of abuse and neglect and know the procedures for reporting concerns, whether for adults or children.
Dedicated support:
Our Head of Housing serves as the designated Safeguarding Champion, providing expertise and assisting with all safeguarding matters.
Safe staff checks:
All staff working with residents, including families and vulnerable adults, have undergone necessary background checks (DBS) to ensure your safety.

How we handle safeguarding concerns

We respect your privacy. In safeguarding cases, information will be shared only as necessary to protect the person at risk, following data protection laws. This may include sharing information without consent to prevent harm.
We offer ongoing support and monitor situations as needed to ensure the safety of those at risk.
Your role in safeguarding
Everyone has a part to play in safeguarding. Whether you’re a neighbour, family member, or friend, reporting concerns can help protect vulnerable individuals and children in our community. If you see something, say something!
