New rent and service charges took effect in April. If you receive benefits, your local authority or Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has contacted you about updating them with information that may affect your entitlement.
Housing Benefit
If you receive Housing Benefit, it is important to check your claim and provide any updated information if requested. This ensures your payments continue correctly following the review of your entitlement.
Universal Credit
If you receive Universal Credit, you will need to update your housing costs in your online journal as soon as your rent changes. This helps ensure you receive the correct housing element in your payments. Delays could lead to receiving too little support, or being overpaid and asked to repay it later.
Support from IDS
Forms and online updates can sometimes feel overwhelming or unfamiliar, but you are not expected to figure this out on your own. Reaching out early can help prevent issues later on. We are here to help you stay informed, supported, and confident during these changes.
If you are unsure what steps to take, need help updating your claim, or would simply like someone to talk things through with you, please get in touch.
